Ok, had a bit of a look around, whilst there are threads about carry-on etc, i wanted a bit more information (hang on, beer run!)

Right, much better... Now, was wondering if i could see some pics or links to the backpacks/bags that you have been able to take on as carry-on luggage on planes in the past... Just as an example, when i was last in europe i too one of these suckers



Now, it was 65litres, and had the removable daypack, which i removed and carry'd on, and checked in the main part... The daypack sucked though. There was no airflow between the bag and your back, hence a sweaty back ensured...

Now, since returning to oz, ive bought one of these babys for domestic flights (weekend trips/other assorted adventures) and at 30litres, was fine for carry on. Also once i was at the hotel/hostel and threw the bulk of clothes on the bed, was fine for a daypack, and had great airflow around the spine area..



So, where is this thread heading? Well, post up some packs that i might be able to check out that are maybe in between these two i have shown that i can use for longer international trips of say 4weeks? Was thinking more along the lines of maybe a hike type pack, as i want to get into some hiking in the not to distant future, so maybe the one pack would do both... Only trauma i can see (is that trauma or drama?) is that they would be mostly top loading i guess...

You'd be surprised. Those large bags you can buy from the chains are quite large and sturdy. I bought one from a Carrefour in Krakow and carried half my luggage in it. LOL

you're right this should not be a neglected thread... hmmmm..... let's see if I have a picture of me.


SUPER TOURIST! I had the hat for a total of ten minutes until my travel buddy took a picture of me just so he could show me how silly I looked then he ripped it off my head and threw it in the trash.

It's 65L Eagle Creek with a removable day pack. though I ended up wearing the day pack on the front by the end of the trip, as seen in picture, helped with balance.

^^^ I have that exact same Eagle Creek pack, and it has now been carried on about 40 planes....

It is a good pack and it is small enough to be a "carry-on" item on most planes. I have taken it on about about 16 flights and only once was told I could not carry it on. an AirTran Flight out of MCO to ATL, though it got gate-checked, so I didn't get charged for it. and they retrieved the bag before going to baggage claim at my destination so I was able to walk off the plane and right out of the airport.... ahhh how I love not waiting at the baggage carrousel.

ditto...that pack has been with me through europe, central america and south america, plus (the day pack) through various states of the US. my next pack will be smaller, but otherwise it has been great...
