The cheapest flight for mid march from british airways out of Detroit I found is $498.50. So that's a bit steep for me right now, unless I win the lotto.

I still need to get my ticket to Europe... I'm willing to fly into almost any city and then just trek it down to spain any way available. But I pretty much have to leave from So Cal. Anyone seen any good prices for summer flights?

hey ash-- depending on when you're leaving, looks like there's a wee bit of a price difference from the beginning of June to the end of June; it looks like the average flight is going to be around $600 to $800 *before* taxes, from LAX to London or Paris. I just tossed in some random summer dates on economytravel.com and that's what it came up with. You might be able to get a better deal on statravel.com if you are under 26; you also might want to think about going to a local sta travel agency in town-- I've known several people to get way better fares by going in to the agency than what they found online, although I'm sure this is not always the case. Strange but true.
Also, definitely ask TP as he's in the LA area, I'm sure he might have some ideas for you! good luck!

I'm going to be checking out flights leaving from LA/SD to London in late June soon (after my midterms tomorrow), so I'll post the best prices I find. I think leaving from SD might be a bit cheaper if you can get a ride down there, but I'll have to double check that.

Hi, I'm pretty new, but I've traveled a bit in the US and so on, and the best deals I've seen are normally listed on travelzoo.com. They search the internet each week for the top 20 deals and that's how I've been travelling for the past year is through deals I found with them.
The rates roundtrip to europe seems to fall around $300 to $500 at www.travelzoo.com (then go to europe)
The only thing about them is usually the travel period for most of their deals falls are last minute and travel period is from 2 months after the deal starts.
but I'd look at this
http://www.lowestravel.com/specials/
with LA to Paris being about $275 each way
I've gotten a deal for $500, airfare and hotel for a week in Paris there, $175 for a weekend in Vegas with airfare and Hotel, etc...

Wow, thanks for the link. That site seems to have the lowest prices I've been able to find so far for SoCal to London ($650+tax from San Diego). I'll keep checking back there to see if anything even better comes up in the next week or two.

" March 22 " 26 year old white male - I will be heading Solo to Amsterdam the week of March 22nd and staying there for a least a couple of days. After Amsterdam I am debateing on Germany or Switzerland for another round of beer drinking and a little culture. Let me know if anyone wants to meet up for a beer.

We (2 women) finally decided on sticking with Netherlands and Belgium for our 12 days there. We actually leave Amsterdam on the 22nd to head south. What time are you getting into town? We have no set time to leave.

We're at the Stayokay Stasdoelen, few minutes walk from the Centrum. Just found out other plans to meet people in Brussells fell through so definitely don't have to leave at any specific time now.

Boudiccae, Sounds like we will be able to hook up for a while, When do you arrive in Amsterdam? I will see what I can do to find out what time I will be arriveing.
I was thinking about staying at one of the Flying Pigs. This is the first time I have been to Amsterdam, and I just read a little about the Stayokay Stradsdoelen. Does anybody have any suggestions on Hostels for mid March on which one I should make reservations at? Or all they all good?
