Hi, 22yo Aussie girl looking for company, preferably female, for an extended trip leaving early next year. Idea is to head to Asia for a few months, then would like to wander over to Europe for the summer, perhaps get some work, take it from there. I'm pretty flexible in my plans, just want to see somthing different. Not that interested in USA, UK or OZ. Wanting to keep the trip going for anywhere up to a year, long as the money lasts. Fairly new to this travel thing, and too wussy to travel alone. Better to have someone to share it with!
Im not much into the pub/club scene, but am very outdoorsy, love to go hiking, surfing, snorkelling/diving, cycling; anything adventurous (within reason; Im not into extreme sports, though must say Ive never tried it, so who knows!). Also like cultural things, and want to get off that beaten track. Love dancing, good food, markets and bazaars, and have an interest in languages too.
I'm pretty down to earth, easy to get along with, like a laugh with friends. Just hoping to find somone like-minded to join me on my travels, and happy to plan the trip together if there is anywhere in particular you want to go, its all "away from here"!

Welcome to TravelPUNK!
I am not a female and unavailable to travel with your loveliness next spring but I would like to extend a warm greeting!
You'll find us pretty unformal around here and willing to help in any way we can. So if you have any questions just give a shout out!

Hey Belle,
I was doing some research for an upcoming trip and came across your post looking for a travel partner. I usually shy away from such posts, but reading your words, I found myself overwhelmed by your excitement and eagerness. I'm 25, from the States, and have done a good deal of travelling. These days I'm actually pursuing a career as a travel writer and photographer, and have just booked a trip to Asia for the early part of next year. On Feb 1, I fly to Tokyo, then Bangkok on the 6th. I'm gonna be in SE Asia for several months before heading to Perth to visit family sometime in your winter down there. I don't make a whole lot of plans beforehand, nor usually seek out a travel partner, but in reading your post, I was really impressed by how much we had in common. It's always fun to meet people who share the same excitement for travel, especially since it's not so common in the States. So anyhow, if you wanted to get in touch so that you would have another contact for your trip, I'd love to hear from you. * Email removed * PM me if interested! I hope that everything continues to go well for you Belle and I wish you all the best on your trip. Good luck!
Best wishes
Kyle Hammons

Hi Belle
I just found this board. What a great idea! I am planning to be in South East Asia in Early Jan for 5 weeks and am also travelling alone. I am a 28 year old Irish/Canadian girl. I am living in South Korea right now and have done a little travelling.
I am totally keen to have a travelling companion too as I think it makes things a bit more interesting. I am pretty laid back and go with the flow. I am interested in seeing Vietnam and Cambodia and would be open to spending some time on the islands in Thailand. I haven't done any planning yet so am open.
If you are interested in chatting more, PM me. I would love to hear from you and if we are going the same way, we could meet up. If there are other people out there who may be in the same neck of the woods or want to be drop me a line.
All the best
Claire

Welcome Claire,

This is probably one of the best sources you can find for good, trustworthy information...

I'm going to Taiwan and possibly Tokyo in Feb or March. I haven't decided which yet. Maybe some of us could meet up. I'm meeting friends in Taiwan but Tokyo will be a solo venture. It would be nice to meet up with some fellow T-punks.

Ah, was kinda thinking around June, July; not too sure yet, no set plans. Am prob going to get a RTW ticket, and start with Asia beginning of March, then across to Europe, for the summer/autumn, then... I guess head West? I'm not hugely organized, I know; I can tell you for sure I am flying out of this country the day of my last uni exam, but haven't thought a hell of a lot past that point. Yet. Was just going to make it up as I went along?
Not sure about the ticket either; it just seems abit rigid, pre booking dates and destinations. I'm sure I'll stress out when the day approaches and book all I can for bit of security, but really wanted to keep it flexible. Esp as I'm not too sure how far my meager funds will take me and when I'll have to pick up a job etc. But yes, can say with a fair degree of confidence I plan to be in Europe by at least July! If that helps. What are your plans there?

Me again!
Just wanted to say I'm off; fly out Wed to Bangkok, and will be in SE Asia till mid June, so if this suits anyone feel free to get in touch! Wanting to see N and S Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and poss bit of S China.
From there heading over to Europe for anywhere between 8-16 weeks (depending on money really; hoping to score some work-for-board type arrangements, and may do the Italian au-pair thing again), then on to LA and down to S America (Argentina and Chile at this stage).
Safe and Happy travels to all, hope I get a chance to meet some of you Travelpunkers out there!
Belle

Lmao - my Taiwanese friend byches about the same thing - I think he gets annoyed when everyone wants to visit mainland China instead of Taiwan.
