Looking for someone interested in a 6-8 months trip from Cape Town to Casablanca, Morocco starting sometime around January 2006. I wont lie, this will require a lot of planning on your part, mostly just visa and other entry requirements. The trip will cover some of the most backwater and off-the-beaten-path places in the world. Health will be another major consideration; ensuring that you are vaccinated for yellow fever, cholera, and hepititis A-Z. For anyone who is interested, please contact me directly at elcabojota@hotmail.com.

Cheers, Jay

Hey Jay, I admire someone that would plan such a trip and I'm sure it will be worth the planning. Good luck with this adventure and keeping healthy while on it. I spent a few weeks in Morocco last year so if you need any advice...

I'm actually looking at doing some of Africa next year. Not sure what parts yet, the country is huge and I will only have a few weeks, but it has intruiged me for a long time. I would be looking at going in the tail end of 2006, almost 2007 most likely though. I would be real intrested to see what kind of stuff you have to go through to get shots, visas, travel plans etc though.

As far as vaccinations go, Yellow Fever and Cholera andrequired to enter most countries and any of the Hepititis shots are handy to have just in case. Depending on where you are going, an anti-malarial series will also be handy along with the medication that you willneed if youcontractthe virus.

But on a lighter note, visas in most countries are easy to obtain and are obtainable at the border or in their embassy in a neighboring country.

Other than thesethings, I am still very much in th eplanning phase. Iwas orginally going to leave in January but I was ending up in West Africa during the worst of their rainy season so I have pushed my start date back until August 2006.

Cheers!

Yeah I havent looked at any planning as of right now. I figure once I get within the year or so I will start looking more heavily. I am actually looking to start putting a bit away each month, even if just a little to help me get there. Right now I have a credit card that I have frequent flier miles with and am hoping that maybe I get a free (with the miles) or even just very discounted price on airfare. I mean if I could get a free ticket or one for only a couple hundred bucks that would definantly free up some budget. For my birthday recently I had asked my sister and brother to buy me miles instead of a regular gift, every bit helps.

I think I am still like 50K miles off but I figure if I get some more for christmas from more family, then I can cut out a big chunk of that. Plus even if I am able to put away an extra grand or so over the time I have before even planning that will really make things a lot easier. If I had a free ticket to get there and a grand to help me get wherever I wanted from there that would be awesome.

I don't see all that many people on here talk about going to Africa, not sure whay that is.

That trip sounds amazing! I am looking to do this myself one day but it will be at least 5 or so years from now. I am hitting the road for a LONG time starting in 2008 (see ticker) and this will be part of it. Health is a concern so I will probably do it in sections so that health issues will not cause problems. Good luck with your adventures and I will try to help if I can!
