Hey, I am planning a trip though Austria, Italy, France and Spain during the summer of 2006. I am looking to do the whole busking thing. I play guitar and harmonica and am looking for another musician or two, who might want to hook up. I am going as far my meager funds will take me and im quite flexible.

Hey dude I play guitar too. I was thinking of doing the same thing but thought it might be a hassle lugging a guitar case around europe...It would be an awesome way to make some cash though.

That sounds like a great idea, I'm doing Europe in August and I'll be taking a guitar, I'm a vocalist primarily though.

I'm not sure of my route or schedule yet, but I would be interested if I was nearby.

Check out the Martin Backpacker's Guitar.

Saw a few folks with 'em in Costa Rica last week.

is it that easy to make money doing that though? i mean enough to survive on? and how many hours a day would you have to play, to make enough to stop? and still have time to see the sights? if its that easy im learning the guitar before i leave. I can only play 3 cords, very badly.

Either way, just bringing one would be awesome. and throwing in a TPunk musical meetup? Well that would be the COOLEST idea ever!!!! wow, you guys would have to video tape it and play it on tpunk. the tpunk house band.

Awesome, the formation of a jam group is a beautiful thing, as is the prospect of a little extra cash. So, how long have you guys been playing and what kind of music are you into?

Dudes, that sounds awesome. I play guitar, harmonica and sing and will be backpacking all over Europe June 6 to August 15. I went to Italy two years ago with a friend and we had guitars and a harmonica and we played for some of the people in the tiny village we were staying. I don't speak Italian, but from the clapping and the "Bravo, Bravo Musica!" I think it went over well. Music is definately an excellent way to bridge a language gap. I'd be down for a meetup (but still not sure if I'd lug my acoustic around Europe for 9 weeks) .

I've been playing some sort of stringed instrument (guitar and bass) for about 12 years or so. Completely self-taught. And I'm no good. :D but i have fun.

Mostly classic rock, but I will suffer some folks through Pearl Jam, Jack Johnson, Radiohead, or Dave Matthews.

I'm a jazz singer by trade, but I've been known to throw down a little bit of everything. I love the blues, but I'm a dabbler. I like all styles.

I've been trying to figure out how I can manage to do some singing while in europe, so the prospect of a jam is very exciting to me!
I'll be in london, barcelona, rome, venice, paris, dresden, amsterdam between about june 15-july 18 so if that fits with your schedules then AWESOME!

I'll be in Europe April - July and would love to get together and jam for some extra cash! Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Amsterdam, London... I am primarily a guitarist, but have been known to do some singing. I play blues and rock mostly, r&b, jazz...covers and originals.

I was thinking of buying a guitar in Europe, something small and cheap (pawn shops?), rather than bringing the acoustic along. Is this possible?

What's the consensus about selling things in the street? I have a CD I recorded last year, and was considering making a few copies and selling them there.

You may want to be careful about selling your cd's outside of your home country. I know one guy who was playing a festival in the US and when he got to the border they sent him back and he was banned for a month, all because he didn't have the right permits for the cd's he was planning to sell.
I would assume that you need a permit to bring a quantity of cd's for sale through to any country. However, if you had access to a burner and a number of blank cd's in europe then you could probably get away with it.
Or you could lie on your customs form.

But come one people, let's get this jamming thing ON!

I'll be in:
London: June 15-20
Barcelona: June 21-25
Rome: June 26-July 1
Venice: July 2-3
Paris: July 4-9
Dresden: July 10-11
Amsterdam: July 12-16
and maybe somewhere in belgium: July 17-20?

If that works out with anyone's scedules (except dresden... I'll be at a concert...) let me know and we can ROCK OUT!!

My itinerary is EXTREMELY tentative still (except for the 10 days in Prague and the month-long pilgrimmage to Santiago), and probably will be until my flight back home... But as it stands now:

01.Apr - 10.Apr - Prague
10.Apr - 15.Apr - Cesky Krumlov
15.Apr - 16.Apr - San Sebastian
16.Apr - 18.May - Camino de Santiago
18.May- 22.May - Lisbon / Lagos
22.May- 24.May - Sevilla
24.May- 27.May - Barcelona / Pamplona
27.May- 09.Jun - Paris
09.Jun - 17.Jun - Sicily / Salerno / Naples
17.Jun - 21.Jun - Greece
21.Jun - 01.July - Rome / Florence / Bologna / Venice
01.July- 05.July - Munich / Berlin
05.July- 06.July - Denmark
06.July- 11.July - Amsterdam
11.July- 14.July - Belgium
14.July- 21.July - London / Scotland

so goldenseal, maybe we can jam in Rome or Venice? Any other paths I'll be crossing?

I play punk, grunge, folk, and stuff like that and have been playing for about three years. I play guitar, harmonica, a little of the drums, and sing a little too (until people start to threaten me with sharp objects if I don’t “shut the f**k up!!!”) I will be in Italy and for most of June and will be hitting Austria and the rest of Italy in July after the running of the bulls. I will be dragging along my beloved acoustic guitar Shelby with me.

What do those travel guitars sound like? I've been looking at one one Ebay, check here.

I can't find any reviews of them on the internet, but I'd like to know if they sound semi-decent or not before I get one.
