+1, but make mine Bavaria or Pilsen. I don't think I can handle any more Imperialweisers :D |
Costa Rica was one of the best times of my life...Bunjee jumping from the bridge down there that is the highest in the americas was amazing...so were the beers, the people, the beaches, the food, the...well...everything lol
|
 Pura Vida!! il save those imperiales and pilsens..and i hope you really can come back soon........
|
Did you go see those round boulders?? That were like shapped or something from a looong time ago?? I forgot what show it was one..but it was on one...

i am going for one month in December, What are the best beach cities to visit? also what is the best hiking experience?
thanks |
I think Omid has the beach thing down, and I did the hiking around Monteverde and Santa Elena. Ticapacker, well, she's a local, so, y'know ;)

well beaches you have 2 options ethier the carribean side you have: manzanillo, puerto viejo, cahuita, cocles, or you have the beaches fron the guanacaste side manuel antonio, playa grande.....guanacaste has a lot of beaches but personally i prefer the carribean it has this laid back vibe lots of bars on the beach and you can also go to some tropical forests near by so well its your choice on that!!!!
|
the atlantic coast definately has a laid back - rasta kinda vibe to it. personally i think manuel antonio is the prettiest beach in costa rica. its awesome to walk through the jungle, see monkeys, frogs, tucans, then suddenly appear at a beach. its like a oasis or mirage or something and its awesome.
i've never seen it, but ive heard people talk about monkeys running onto the beach and stealing peoples food and clothes and stuff. i was actually hoping a monkey would steal something of mine. i would love the thought of a monkey in costa rica wearing my sunglasses. as for the beer. i was always a fan of imperial, bavaria always seemed too classy, i liked the working class beer. do they still make Rock Ice there? i always liked how your options there were imperial, pilsen, bavaria, or Rock Ice. it made me laugh, rock ice reminds me of the kind of beer you would find frat boys drinking then smashing the cans on their heads. |
I had a few of them in January, RB. But then I discovered the official pesticide of CR, Cacique Guaro, and it was all over after that :blink2:
|
If I had an extra week to spend in Puerto Viejo, I would've easily spent it there. The longer I was there, the more I was digging the ultra laid-back Caribbean lifestyle. Ahhhh, I miss it!

Thanks everyone, my friends have all decided to go to Jaco. i have heard this has the most tourists. i think i can handle it for a few days, but i am going to try to check out some beaches you mentioned. Has anyone been to Bocas Del Toro in Panama? my friends also want to go to Drake, let me know what you think of that too.
thankds |
Yeah, everyone in Puerto Viejo was *raving* about BDT... apparently, getting there is pretty easy from the Atlantic coast - you can either go by bus or boat. Boat's supposed to be more fun, but some of the operators are a bit on the shady side and you may not be legally crossing the border when you go with them, so be careful :)

Hey, I'm going to Playa Samara in August for 3 weeks to volunteer, but I want to take as many day and weekend trips around Costa Rica and possibly to Nicaragua...any suggestions? Thanks!
|
I went to Monteverde Cloud Forest...several hour bus ride out of San Jose. It thought it was great. You can read my travelog from the link in my signature...

Great trip thanks
Well, i went to Costa Rica and Bocas, loved them both. As any trip goes it is best just to wing it. i love Pilsen better than Imperial, overall an awesome trip. Thanks for everyone's help. i suggest puerto Viejo (stay at rocking j's) manuel antonion (stay at hostel vista serena) san jose (hostel pangea). Costa Rica is a fly by the seat of your pants kind of country. The best palnning for travelling there is to not plan at all. i have only been to 27 countries, so far Costa Rica is the best. i will keep everyone posted if i find somewhere better. Have a good time!
|
Very few people would consider 27 a number to use the world "only" with ;)
Glad you had a good time :) --Joey |
Have you heard of the Costa Rica Language Academy?
I am planning a 6 week stay in Costa Rica. I am leaving in January and am planning to study Spanish through CRLA which is based in San Jose. I'm a little nervous at this point because of the mixed reviews on the Capitol city. I am also planning on having some girlfriends meet me out there so that we can travel together for the last two weeks of my stay:cheers: . I was thinking of Puerto Viejo!? Any suggestions? Any info on CRLA would be great! Or even on San Jose.
Thanks!!!! |
