So, I'll be leaving in about two months to backpack alone around Europe and wherever else I may want to go. I bought a one way ticket and I'll be there for anywhere from a month to a year, just depending on what I feel like doing.

I'm traveling on a budget, so I hope to do a good bit of camping in a tent. Can anyone tell me ways to go about finding places to throw my tent, what I should and shouldn't do, or even your experience doing so? Thanks, punks.

I have been doing the same thing since about september and I will be ending in December. I bought myself a small one person tent, with the intention of camping where ever I could. However when I got here I found that camp sites weren't much cheaper than hostels and they are always a ways outside of town. I did get to do some hiking in Scotland though alon the great glen trail over the loch ness and inverness which was beautiful. I also did some hiking near the Lake District of England which was also beautiful, but out of the three months i've been traveling that is all the camping i've doen and the tent has just become something to lug around, becuase hostels and cheap hotels are more practical around this time of year at least. I've also seen quite a bit of rain which doesnt make camping really enticing. In England I mostly just stayed at campsites I found from tourist information sites or just pitched my tent in the first clearing I could find because it was getting late. Be careful there too because there are hundreds of footpaths which dont always go where you think they do, I got lost a few times and had to back track. Well man hope this helps, I also know that most cities have camp grounds and you should be able to find these through lonely planet guides. Have an awesome trip!

There are lots of places to camp. Just look up directories for each country as regards to national or regional parks that allow camping. Also many European countires allow to to camp on designated beaches and other areas. Camping out in the country can also be done, just make sure you ask the locals.
