I don't think anyone is being rude here....just replies from people who have been there.
throwing away shoes when they're dirty? what? why would you do that?
taking an hour a week to do laundry (wherever I did laundry there was an internet cafe so i used that time to check/send emails, book hostels/hotels, check on the next city I was going to) isn't very much....think of slugging 40-50 pounds on your back for 3-4 or sometimes 5 hours a day. believe me its not fun.

canadian bacon...I wore the same pair of new balance all terrains everywhere and had no problem. I sent back my "nicer" shoes.

well i would throw them away because they get dirty easy and fast and they were $2... i dont think i really wanna worry about doing laundry lugging my 20lbs is okay for me and like i said in my first post ill be with family at begin and end of trip so im sure they use laundry machines if i absolutely need it. i understand the situations, but it seems like everyone else is speaking from longer trips, im just doing a month, so i want tomake sure i dont have to worry about not having anything or doing laundry. thanks for your comments!

Do you have any footwear for rain? Just looking at your list, you could hit wet weather in Holland and Czech, I'm thinking. Flip-flops might be a bit uncomfortable/slippery...

Hope we were able to help. Enjoy your trip.

You guys are a lot of help, believe me!

I tested my bag out yesterday, and I fit way more stuff that i previously thought (including my dress shoes). But it was rather crammed.

To be perfectly honest, megz, I pretty much jeans with a different printed Tee in my daily life...hahaha. So i guess it won't be that much of a change...i woudlnt' say I'm a "trendy" kind of guy.

maybe it's just me but throwing away shoes because they're dirty seems kind of wasteful.....
I only went for a month. I'd have hated to have a bag full of stinky clothes on my back. dirty clothes weighs more and the smell will permeate your clean clothes as well after awhile...but to each their own.

CB,
I didn't really go clubbing often (hanging out outside with a bottle of wine is more interesting to me) but no I didn't have any problems getting in any where.

imo, you want your bag about 3/4 full...leave a bit of room for stuff you'll pick up on the way.

I have no idea how, but somehow I missed this thread before. Generally I'm a light packer, but the thought of going to an unfamiliar place always makes me want to pack stuff "just in case". I must say - there is some good advice here and you guys answered a lot of my questions.
