SteriPEN - Any opinons on this water purifier?
I'm kinda excited about this, but curious what you guys think? It's a water purifier that works by emitting UV light, really small and lightweight. Our campus' health department's been promoting these for traveling. http://www.thetravelinsider.info/tra...s/steripen.htm
Anyone ever used it for a long period of time? I'm thinking that this would save money in the long-run since I wouldn't have to buy bottles of water. The only thing I don't like is the battery life, 20-40 uses on 1 set of 4 batteries. Batteries could get expensive, unless I carry a battery charger, but then that's added stuff to pack. So what do you think?
They can be found for $70, or $100 in an even smaller version.

I'm sure that can sterilize pathogens...but obviously won't remove any inert pollution like a filter can.

ya I know, but how often do you really need that? This thing is so small, it'd be great for tap water and running rivers.
