I am hating the thought of a money belt... First of all I'm fat and I can't imagine it'd be easy find one big enough to fit.. and Secondly I've never done well with belts and things of that sort... They were just never very comfortable to me... Now, I'm not exactly a seamstress... But i know my way around a sewing maching.. And what I was thinking of doing is just sewing a pocket that hangs down from the waistband in each of my pants/skirts... I cant imagine it would be any less comfortable than wearing a fanny pack under your clothes, and it would probably be much more inconspicuious (That was EXCEPTIONAL spelling.. pat on the back for me.:P ) Has anyone tried this? Do you think it would work? Just curious.

Yes, give it a go! I read somewhere (on here ages and ages ago?) about someone sewing inside pockets to their pants/etc, like on the side of the legs where there are already cargo pockets so the stitching wouldn't be visible. I have yet to do that myself but could if I'd get my ass in gear.

I think it should work. Before I travelled around Eastern Europe (I was a little paranoid) I sewed a pocket onto a couple of my loose boxer shorts - incl. a button to keep it closed. When I eventually got over there, I wasn't as worried so I only ever used the idea a couple of times in dodgey places. I just thought muggers would go for the money belt and normal pockets... but who would think you'd have a sewn pocket on your boxers.

I also got a tailor to sew a secret pocket (about the size of my pasport with velco to close) in two of my jackets as I was paranoid about pickpockets. I really liked it.

As long as it's confortable and secure, I'd say do it.
