ok, so I think I prefer a panel loader because it seems like it would be a pain in the arse to take everything out of the bag if you needed to find something.. But I've read a NUMBER of times on this board from a number of different people that a top loader is better. Why?

hmm, generally most people prefer panel loading (or side zippers) to top loaders.

My big backpack is a toploader, whereas my smaller one is a panel... I prefer the panel - MUCH easier to get at stuff. On the other hand, I find it a lot easier to stuff tons of shit into the top-loader when I'm in a rush and need to get movin'.

My husband's has both top and side access, which seems to be the best of both worlds. We've managed to cram a month's worth of clothes for 6 and diapers (for 1) into it, so we haven't had to sacrifice volume to get the convenience.
