Well i know this has probably been asked a hundred times before blah blah blah, but I hope someone would be willing to answer a few of them please!!

I was looking at getting that Dana Design Far Flung 03. I went to REI and they didnt really have anything when it comes to smaller travelbackpacks. By smaller I mean smaller than my large backpacking in the mountains backpack. Anyways, I was wondering if that Farflung 03 is carry on size? I am probably going to buy that on in the next day or so. Also all they have left it appears is the L/XL size. I am 6'4" to 6' 5" kinda skinny guy I guess. So I am thinking that it'll probably fit me.

I now have a pacsafe which I may may not use we shall see!

I was also wondering if something like this might be a good investment:

I read some stories where some hostels had like bed bugs and people got ate alive. Or are the "recommended" hostels pretty clean?

Hmm thats all for now, but I'm sure I'll have more as time gets shorter and i start planning more.

Thanks!

Hi there!

There is no way the Far Flung will be carry-on size. The detachable daypack alone would be, but not the whole thing. Sorry! It's still a good pack though.

And yeah, a sleep sheet like that one is never a bad investment.

Yea, a L/XL Far flung would be to big as a carry on. It is a GREAT pack though.

I am 6'6 and I have a Dana Designs pack as well. I got a L/XL pack since I am tall, but order a medium waist belt (directly from Dana) since I am kinda thin. Worth the extra money for sure.

Sleep sheet is always a good idea. Also good fro camping - to add in your sleeping bag for warmth and to extend the life of your sleeping bag whihc is harder to clean than the sleep sheet.

Did you ever have problems checking your bag then?

My experience with checked baggage has never been bad, but I have also never flown internationally.

Sorry I wasn't more clear....order your pack L/XL for cheap (you can get the far flung for $99-$130 on sale online) and then also call Dana Designs Customer Service and tell them you have ordered a L/Xl b/c you afre 6'5 but want to get a medium waist belt for it since you are thin - they will guide you through the process. I believe just the bely cost me around $20.

As for checking your bag - I puck my pack in a duffle to go under the plane so that the straps don't get torn or anything. See this link. It says there that the Far Flung and the Swift Traveler (bigger version of the far flung) come with the duffle - but I am not sure about the '03 version, you'll have to check. I got my duffle for about $20 online on sale. (I have the Glacier btw - but I do a lot of backcountry hiking)

If you have any more questions, please, ask away!
