Question

so you wear your money belt under your clothes? does this mean under your pants, around your hips/waist? if so - do you have to unbutton/unzip your pants to get to your important documents? i don't wanna be stripping in public just to show someone my passport or something!

*feels like an idiot*

Yes, it goes under your clothes. But theoretically you're putting things in there that you are NOT going to need to access while in public! (I.e. your passport for everyday bumming around. But keep it in your purse during actual travel, in situations where you will need to be showing it to customs officials.) I usually kept my plane tickets, rail pass unless I am using it that day, extra cash I know I won't (or shouldn't) be using, credit card, etc. Anything else just keep it in your wallet inside your purse/daypack. And speaking of that-- instead of a small backpack, I prefer to carry a small messenger-bag type thing with the strap that goes crosswise over my body-- it's smaller, it's right underneath me so no one can get into it, and it can't fall off my shoulder or get snatched. But that's just me.

I never kept anything in my money belt that I knew I was going to need access to throughout the day. And it's not at all a stupid question!!!

i wore my money belt for about 2 minutes before i took it off and started using it like a wallet. i always kept track of my purse (which was a daypack type thing i wore around the front of my body) so i didn't have much need for the money belt. i found that most packers used it like a wallet...just had it in their daypacks or pockets.

just bring one with you so you have the option of wearing it like a belt if you need to, or you can use it like a wallet if u don't.

The best money belt is one that has a loop that your belt goes through and hangs down under your pants right behind your front pocket. I wore this everyday and didn't even notice it. It feels like you just have stuff in your front pocket but noone can see it! Best investment ever! Check it out...
