Does anybody sew-in hidden inside pockets in their pants?
Hi everyone. On previous trips, I've used the Eagle Creek Hidden Pocket to hide my passport, money, and copies of important documents and numbers. However, the thing requires you wear a belt, and when you undo the belt, if you're not careful, the thing falls down your pants onto the floor. I was considering modifying all the pants I'll take traveling to have a hidden inside pocket sewn in, and then just keeping my stuff in a plastic bag that i'll throw into whatever I'm wearing that day. Has anybody done this?

Naw, I'm really lazy with keeping my stuff safe. Terrible, isn't it? I just sort of rely on hostel lockers, and if I take my passport and stuff out, keep it in my handbag. It really would serve me right if my stuff got stolen, I know.

All I ever did was keep my wallet in a front pocket in crowded areas. Other than that I don't worry about it much. Especially if you're going to be in Europe! You don't see local people hiding there stuff in secret compartments or whatever. Unless you really stand out as a tourist, or are going to be in a developing country or something, I wouldn't act much differently than I would at home.
But like Lauren said, I guess it'll serve me right if I get robbed one day. |
RTW, mostly to developing countries. Besides- my passport won't fit in my wallet.

As for us, I carry a money belt, that has my passport and other importants in a ziplock with my debit card etc... I also carry a fake wallet with expired credit cards, and misc. bills. It may sound paranoid, but I have been hassled by many a strange and scary vagrant, and I would rather spend my trip traveling than sitting in an office somewhere trying to sort out my passport issues so that I can move on. I couldn't imagine not being safely prepared, but thats just me.:)
