Checking out some sites for money belts and came across the leg money belt, it is worn right above the calve....I am considering it based on comfort reasons. Anyone have any pros/cons on this as compared to your standard deal? Also any reccomendations would be nice, Thanks all.

The leg thing sounds cool, but I have found a great way to keep my papers and $$$ pretty safe...I wear cargos alot when I am treking, whether shorts or pants...If you know someone that sews, sew a pocket on the inside of the pantleg oppiste the large cargo pocket, seal it with velcro. You keep in there things you will not have to pull out all the time passport, visas, extra credit card, and the lump some of your cash. if ya wanna get fancy, and I have on one pair, you can sew in an access zipper from the inside of the outside cargo pocket. A bit confusing, but i tell ya, i am thinking of a patent for this idea!!!

you know CD, that is actually one hell of an idea! Should work well as far as comfort is concerned also. Now i just need to go out and find someone who can sew, If i were to try it it would be a disaster, i see visions of blood and waisted thread...I think I am going to take your advice, inside pocket....That is a great idea, thanks.

Hehe. when I read you saw visions of blood I thought 'you're supposed to take the pants OFF first!'
But anyway, my biggest fear of sewing the inside pocket on is that it'd fall off due to my lousy sewing :P
Otherwise, thats what i plan to do - could get a bit tedious sewing a pocket onto every pair of pants I had planned on taking - good reason to pack less I guess.

Cargo's are the best pants to do it with, although you can do it with others. Jean are the most difficult to do it, and I have yet to make it woork with the comfort of cargos. Comfort wise, you do not even know it was there. Every town has a seamstess, or ask mom or gramma, they can prob hook you up. Make sure they use a good fabric that will not irritate you skin, and a strong stiching, as well, ask then to put the velcro 1/4 below the top of the pocket to avoid any chance of scratching on your leg. No name velcro is a no-no as well.
A couple tips for this "CDPocket".....If any one asks, thats what its called!!!!

as long as you'll be wearing pants the whole time (and mind you, you can't keep you plane ticket there, too small) - i LOVE the thing. used it for 3 weeks in europe - no problems. highly recommended. but i'd use cd's idea if i could - i only wore jeans though, so couldn't.... hell, i'm trying to find a way to sew a few pockets in the skirts i'm taking to thailand - they're too shear though... can't they make a thigh money belt?

If you fold the ticket, should be ok to fit, take it out of the large plasitc folder the travel agent gives ya, and putit in a regular white envelope, that will help, or even better, get an e-ticket, no ticket to carry at all.

damn, i misspelled sheer. haha, yeah, good for the thai's, cd!!
i thought about the waistband, but then i might as well have a money belt. since my legs aren't too big around, i'm gonna try that leg stash on my thigh - will probably feel weird, but i think it'll work.

Joan, make yourown,
Just grab either a leg money belt and lengthen the elastic, or a waist one (one worn inside the pants) and shorten it, or you could grab a garter belt and sew a pocket onto that . (try to make it skin coloured if you might bewearing sheer skirts)

yeah, i'm in the process of making my own right now - i lost the damn leg one i took to europe (how?) but it was black anyway, and even though i am darker complected... black wouldn't pass as flesh under one of my sheer skirts.
the garter idea is really hot, ahaha!
i'm having a hard time finding elastisized velcro ... any tips?
