I think I am going to get an Eagle Creek pack, however, I want to get the right size. I am 6' 4" 205 lbs and I will need to pack in my clothes. I was wonedring if anyone thinks I should get a 90L, a 88 L, or a 65 L pack. Any tips would be cool from the guys around my size or from the ladies who have bf, husbands, or brothers my size. I need enough room for a two week trip and I pack light.

I usually lean towards the bigger packs. The 90L would be the same I have. I know when I pack for a trip I like having the extra space for anything I might pickup along the way or especially is I have shoes I am bringing. I have a size 15 (at least) and they will take up lots of room on their own. I like knowing that the space is available and since I am a big guy too, it fits nicer on my back and feels more even than a smaller bag would. I feel like it just kind of fits right between the shoulders.

Hey Big E, I have the 90 Eagle Creek pack, and its perfect. I usually use the straps on the outside bottom for shoes and bulkier shit, they strap on nicely. The pack expands great, and all the zips are lockable. I love my pack had it for several years and it has bounced all over Europe. All the straps tuck away also, which makes it easy on planes and shit. Good luck to ya

I use an asolo parisienne 60L. It was fine for a month of travelling. If you pack light you don't need a huge pack.

i have been living out of a 50l pack for about 3 months now, but i also pack light, if you check the packing list thread it shows what all i jammed in there, including my computer and camera gear, I always recommend compressions sacks they triple the amount of clothing you can fit into a bag

who needs socks when you got an ibook

plus there are some members on this site who could get by for two weeks with a paper sack

Thanks SuDZ! I will certainly look at the 90L since even though I do pack light, I would like to have nice shoes with me along with something dressy for going out to dinner if the opportunity ever arises. I also like to collect art and such, therefore, I would need the extra room. And it makes sense to have a longer pack for the longer torso.

Does the pack come with locks or do you you buy them seperate?

How do you recompress the sacks when you are on the road?

The pack doesn't come with locks, but all the zips will lock with a small lock. Just enough to discourage peeps. it also has a built in security strap so that you can use a bicycle chain or what not to attach it to the bedframe in the hostel you are staying in. A lot of peeps on this board don't think it is neccassary to lock yo shit up, but its not worth it to me. I may make 100 trips with no problem, but the one time I'm outa country and someone does snag my shit, I think it would ruin the trip and I would be super pissed. I don't know, I just figure better safe than sorry. make sure if you use locks, you unlock them going through airport security or you will find yourself digging for keys.

And since you collect art, and you are leaning towards the bigger pack, make sure you take a cardboard tube with you thats the right size to fit in the pack. No better way to get prints back without any damage!!!

Im only 5'10 and i lived out of a 35L pack for about 5 weeks. I packed light and had two pairs of shoes and enough clothes for a week, nice clubing clotes and regualr stuff. I persoanlly think if you can pack light then go for the 60L pack. I didnt like the idea of having my pack weighing me down. If you pack right you can fit plenty of things in any size pack. Basiclly whatever size pack you get, you will find someway to fill it up. So if you buy a smaller pack then you will pack less.

It really comes down to have much do you want to carry around.

The cardboard tube is a good idea and certainly will find one that fits whatever pack I buy.

That is a worthy consideration to take into account when looking for a pack. Certainly the smaller the pack, the more you take into account what is most important to pack in the sack.

camping store. i like the mountain hardwear brand i have had them for umm 4 years now and out of three i only broke one and thats cause it feel off a motorcycle

I got the eagle creek ultimate explorer I don't know for sure how big it is but it looks like it could be 90lt. If your not using all the space you can tie down the straps and it makes the pack seem fairly small and as long as it's not heavy it doesn't really matter to me how big it is but I have the option to put loads of extra stuff in. I filled it up with loads of drink and ciggs coming back from Spain last time.
