Hey, does anyone have an advice on what hostels are good, or which ones to avoid in these certain Australian cities? Sydney, Brisbane, Darwin or Mebourne. I've never been to the country, so if there are people that can recomend particular ones in particularly sweet locations that are a particularly good time, i would looove to know about them!
Thanks
Beth

p.s. this pope icon is hi-larious

hey there, well if youre into the beach life, Manly Beach in sydney absolutley kiks ass. I spent the better part of 7 months living in the hostle "Manly Backpackers Beachside". 30 sec. walk to the beach, job board, bbqs every weekend, just a load of young energetic travellers out for a good time. www.manlybackpackers.com.au Make sure you check out the Steyne for great times gettin wild on the weekend, ten dollar steaks at the ivanhoe pub, and oh yah pizza subs at Jerrys pizza!!!!!

The Palace hostle in Brisbane was allright, very big and impersonal, but the down unda bar downstairs rocks the joint all night

In Melbourne the CoffeePalace ( i think thats the name - in St. Kildas) was fantastic, realy lively crowd, good showers, and very close to everything.

Have fun in Oz, its a good time for sure, my only advice is dont get swept up too much in the tourist bullshit that runs that country. Tasmania has better beaches, nicer views and hella less headaches than anything the east coast can offer (except maybe Fraser Island)
