Default melbourne and the afl

just thought i'd give a heads up to any other backpackers in oz at the moment, this has been circling around my hostel in sydney at the moment, and i know how hard it is to save money here when there's basically a pub on every corner!

anyway, is there anyone in sydney at the moment who's interested in going down to melbourne next month? failing to win, i'm still going to fork out the money to get down there cause i hear it's an awesome city. i'm wondering whether i should catch a train or plane down? train would be cheaper but is it worth it? i don't know how scenic the route is gonna be..

I know there's a few Oz Tpunkers on here, but failing that, you might get more of a response if you put this on the couchsurfing Sydney group.

Definitely thought this was going to be a Australian Football League post. Oh how disappointed I was to find out it wasn't...

Perhaps try www.gumtree.com.au as well. That was wildly popular when I was in the U.K. Not sure how much it's used in Oz. And perhaps craigslist.org as well?

All worth a shot.

Sigh....After 2 years on TPunk I thought this was going to be my chance to finally talk about footy. Oh well.

Melbourne is an awesome city and you should get down here. I can't help you much with transportation but if you need someone to share your Grand Final tickets with, I'll be right here.

There are still some cheap flights for next month on www.webjet.com.au

Go Cats!

I got a plane from Melbourne to Sydney, can't quite remember how much it was, but it was definitely a bargain. Book through one of th budget airlines and you'll get a good price. I didn't regret flying, it was sooo quick and far more cnvenient.

thanks for all the feedback. booked my plane tickets! i don't reckon i could've handled the train, i think it takes 13 hours or something. ugh.

raoul duke, if i end up winning and i'm all alone in the city than i just might hit you up - i've made so many people enter this comp to up my chances of winning, so you never know.

Sounds like a plan.
