Going to oz and nz between May to October
Hello chaps,
Just wondering if you could help me out?! I was initially planning on doing 6 months in Oz and NZ from Jan to June, but due to certain circumstances i now have to go between May and October and i as just wondering whether i'll still get the same kind of experience as i would if i was going from say Dec through till like May?? I've heard May to Oct is sortof out of season.
I'm prob just being daft, but it's my first time out there and i don't know if it'd be as busy or if the weather would a little worse. Any help chaps?? thanks v. much

Hey there and welcome to the boards!
I can't speak for aussie but i'm sure some of my neighbouring tpunks will be on board soon to answer that part for you...
But for NZ the weather will proberly not be too bad for May, June and then say September, October. Our seasons have been rather mucked up the last few years and june -aug is meant to be winter however it has gotten quite cold the last week, but not that much rain which is promising.
Then again it all depends what part of nz you go to, i always know to take a jacket with me when i go to wellington, cas its just about always cold or windy! whereas places like hawkes bay are generally warmer than the rest of the country.
Anywho if you have anything else to ask fire away, hopefully i was of some help!

woops i forgot to speak for the busyness, it wont be as busy as dec-jan here but with all the snow bunnies coming over for our mountains i doubt that you would struggle to find people for company :D

places like canberra or melbourne would be cold, but here in sydney its only just started to get cold these last few weeks - i don't think its very cold at all compared to canberra, where I used to live! and september october it usually starts to warm up. cities like sydney are busy all year round, and if you wanted work, as mooloo said the ski resorts are very busy this time of year.

I was in NZ in October and the weather was really varied, even being warm and sunny one day, and rainy the next in the same town. But we had a lot of nice days though.
Also, October wasn't too busy, but it wasn't exactly dead either. I did one of the backpacker bus things (magic bus) and found that the bus was always busy, and on occasion, completely full.
