I hope so, because everytime i ride my bike here I get shouted at or beeped at, i dont know why?
Is there racism there as much?
PS - do people live in houses or flats mainly in Sydney? I heard a place called Balmain is good but expensive

yes, people are friendly here. of course not all people but you get that anywhere... unfortunately sydney isnt really a city made for cycling so there's often no cycle lane in the streets but as long as you abide by the road rules you shouldn't get harassed by drivers.
I grew up in the country and there is no where near as much racism here as there is in country towns... but i live in the centre of the city, where there is a huge asian population and everyone lives together pretty happily. out in the suburbs there has been racism riots before but these are in the areas where there is a concentration of one or two nationalities and they're gang related. but these are areas far away from the centre of the city and i hate people thinking badly of us for these rare events.
I would say there's a pretty even mix between people living in houses or flats.. in the suburbs its mainly houses but they're expensive... especially anywhere on the north shore where balmain is. That kinda area is mainly rich old people & families, there's not too much share housing going on. there's a few apartment blocks over there but most of them have views of the harbour and that puts your rent up very high. Areas where a lot of students live are places like glebe, ultimo, surry hills, newtown, camperdown etc. most students i know live in terrace houses or old apartment blocks.
