I don't know anybody over there so I want to live somewhere that is conviently located to cool bars and places to hang out and meet people. Thanks for the help.

St Kilda is probably the place to be for cool bars and such, also close to the city. I'm sure someone with some more detailed information will help you out.

Yeah city would be perfect location for everything happening there and it would be close to RMIT (presuming it is the one in the city). But it would be pretty expensive. Anywhere in Melbourne would be good that is near a train or tram line as it is easy to get to the city. A few places could be Oakleigh, Essendon, Glen Eira or Brunswick. But you shouldn't rule out student accomadation at the university as it is pretty cheap. My cousin does it and pays $210 a week, plus it is in the city and easy to meet heaps of people like yourself!!
