Hi Guys and Gals!

Im heading to Sydney to live forever and ever and was needing some information on the process of getting a tax number.

Where do I get one from in Sydney?
How long does it take to process?
If it take a while, can I still work while the tax number is being processed through?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!!

hey outlawz,

in Australia we call it a 'Tax File Number' (TFN) and it is issued by the 'Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

I cant remember how long it takes to process but you can work without one, it just means you get taxed at the highest margin.

The link below should tell you most things....
http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/pathway....001_002_001_003

if that doesnt work goto www.ato.gov.au and click on 'forms and services' and then 'TFN'

All the best buddy, Sydney is great!
