Finding a hostel in beautiful Noosa during peak season is a bit of a trick - there aren't that many of them. Finding a hostel near the beach in Noosa is an even bigger trick: There's just one.
So if you want to stay at the Halse Lodge during the summer time, be sure to book one or two nights well in advance - if you decide to stay in Noosa longer (you'll want to, but your wallet may not!) they keep the bookings open for people who are already there.
Despite the weak web site, the Halse Lodge is beautiful. It's a heritage listed building, so it's old and historical, but this also means the rooms are pretty small and without electrical outlets. However, this being a YHA, it's got all the amenities and services you could ever ask for - if you can tear yourself away from the beach long enough to use them.
Noosa's, in one word, EXPENSIVE. But the Halse has you covered with loaner surfboards, a cheap and friendly bar, and some solid cheap eats courtesy of their onsite cafe. Tuck into some breakfast on the verandah and you'll be surrounded by lorikeets and other wild fauna while you eat. Truly beautiful.
Recommendation: There's really no reason not to stay here.
