Default Southern Comfort - Invercargill, New Zealand

Argh, I'm hacked off, I just wrote a huge long review for this place, and lost it!!!

Invercargill really isn't the nicest place in the world, but it's totally not as bad as people make out. If you do ever find yourself there, seriously, get your bum to this hostel PRONTO!

It's really the nicest hostel ever. It's just like you're staying in someone's home, but without feeling funny about using all their stuff.

I stayed in a double room, I can't remember the exact price, but I know it was very reasonable. The room was a good size and had a good quality bed, with nice bedding on it.

The kitchen is just like the kitchen you might have in your own home. There are tons of dishes, utensils, etc, and loads of room for storage.

The bathrooms - wow. I saw 3 bathrooms, but there might have been more in the other building. Again, they're like you might have in your own house. They're large, with proper power showers, nice fixtures/fittings, etc, they're clean and tidy, perfect really.

Outside, there is a front garden with lounge chairs, and a back garden with benches and a barbeque for guests to use.

Common areas also include a small computer room, where you can use the internet for free (it's slow, but it's free!!), and a lounge room, with lots of magazines and games (no tv, but is that necessarily a bad thing?)

The hostel is located close to a huge park which has lots of gardens, an aviary, a tea room, and a sort of farm/zoo (that's about a 5 min walk away from the hostel), and about 10 mins walk is the town.

Full marks for the hostel itself.

The name "Invercargill" sounds interesting. I can see why you wanted to visit.
