playing tour guide in Bangkok.HELP!
so a really lovely customer of mine has paid for me and my friend to go to thailand with him for 5-6days next week, she has never left the country and is happy to do almost anything, and He has never been to Bangkok, which is where we will be for the whole time.
ive been nominated as tour bitch, since i have been there so many times, which is awesome, i love researching and booking stuff, BUT, i havent been there for a few years, and things change, can anyone tell me any really cool new things that we HAVE to do?
ive got a day at temples and museums etc
a day at Kanchanaburi-if someones game enough to drive, ill navigate to tiger temple and river kwai elephant rides.
a day shopping-chuctchuck and MBK and siam
a day maybe safari world and general city exploring??
but what else?
we are keen to go to the ping pong shows for sure, and maybe spend a few nights our drinking or eating out- i have NO IDEA where o go for this either, i have never gone out in bangkok at night...any suggestions on good resturates or bars....maybe not too young of an atmosphere tho.
much appreciated!!!

What about a day trip via train to Ayyuthaya or Lopburi? Or will you guys be "Templed out" after your day seeing them in Bangkok?

omg note to all. DONT EVER go overseas with a first timer whod rather sleep till 11 every day, and spend the rest of the day in shopping malls!!!!
we got nothing done. at least i managed to drag them to kanachanaburi for the day-even if they did complain the whole way about the distance!! haha even the grand palace was a big effort
playing tour guide when one of the people arent into seeing stuff is really hard still glad i went had a ball!!!

That sucks! I guess that right there is the difference between a tourist (complaining and shopping) and a traveler who loves adventure and experience.
I feel yo pain, babe !

i guess the best thing about it was that i brought our taxi driver 48hours of english lessons, he was a legend, but since i was the only one willing to attempt to commmunicate with him and his english was practicallt non existant, it was a measly $300AUD for lessons, he was so gateful,it was beautiful
i guess i learnt a few things about patience on this trip, im not used to traveling with people who would rather spend the day laying by the pool or shopping, id rather be out there, on the streets exploring and learning.

I actually like to have a [mis]adventure, then complain about it while shopping! How does that classify me, Tony?
But yeah, when I travel, I just want everybody (myself included) to be up for anything, and prepared to not sleep! Hell, it takes hours and hours on a plane to get somewhere and go back home, so THERE's your sleeping time! Certainly not when you're at your destination!

Ah, the classic difference between a traveler and a vacationer. Unfortunately, most Americans see no point to a trip if it doesn't involve sitting at the beach or pool for long hours...
Glad you had fun, though...!
