Way back in Dec 2001, our family spent a week on Okinawa. I came across the photos the other day (we've moved a few times since then...) and now we're trying to figure out where the heck all those cool things were. Unfortunately, I can't find any notes about the trip anywhere, and none of my books on Japan have any info on Okinawa. It's pathetic. I can't even post the photos, because they're not digital. So here's a challenge for anyone who knows Okinawa, or has a faster internet connection than I: I'm trying to identify a botanical garden with a lovely outdoor restaurant, an arching bridge with traditional barges, some strange carved canoe-shaped benches, lots of butterflies and tropical flowers, and most distinctively (though I can't find mention of it anywhere) a forest of towering palms. We were staying at the southern end of the main island at the time, so it's somewhere between south and central Okinawa, since we didn't do a lot of driving around. My husband has a vague recollection of a zoo at the same park, though we didn't go there. How's that for a challenge! Thanks anyone who can help me out.
