I'm just lookin into doing some volunteer work in Asia (maybe Thailand, India or China...) And was wondering if you guys had any suggestions, thoughts, comments on that kinda thing. There is an immense amount of info on the internet that it's overwhelming!! Maybe any recommendations of sites to look at?! Especially for some programs where it costs 2 grand + the plant ticket. Anyways, thanks a bunch!
Haha just reading my message that I posted and I meant to say recommendations for packages that aren't like 2 grand + plane ticket....I'm not made out of money!
^ Not a bad price - but of course that does not include airfare, which you'd basically have to pay with any program.
Given that, I guess it also depends on what type of budget you have and how long you want to stay. Also, are you dead-set on volunteer work - or do you just want some closer interaction with the culture there?
Cuz for about $800 USD, you could enroll in a month-long Chinese class at a university there with room & board. Or, if you have a college degree - you could also teach English for cash.
