stopover in japan?

Hey there,
Just wondering if anybody has had a stopover in Japan at all?
We are heading to London from Aus and have two nights in Japan, we will be staying in Narita for ease on the morning of our departure, but what is there to do/see in tokyo.
We are going to do a day trip in there but are not sure what/where to go?
Any suggestions?
Would be a help, at the moment we are about to resort to going to Tokyo Disneyland, which wouldnt be that bad. Never been to a Disneyland, but it would be good to kind of experience their culture!

Maybe this is too late, but the Ueno district is pretty interesting - it's one of the older residential districts, not all the bright neon you expect. Lots of interesting wooden buildings, small neighbourhood restaurants, that sort of thing. There's a zoo, which is nice, if you're into that kind of thing. We stayed in a ryokan and early in the morning, or maybe late at night, I heard a clip-clopping sound. Peeked out the window and there was a little old lady walking down the cobblestones in wooden geta...not my image of Tokyo c. 2000, that's for sure.
