Asia Truly...a different world. Kazakhstan, Japan, and everything in between. Mekong River, Central Asia deserts, sticky rice, ancient traditions, temples, tuk-tuk...

The Land of the Rising Sun, The land where respect is everything, and elvis is still at the top of the charts....

Japan, and more specifcaly Tokyo is a modern metropolis, the city is alive with neon lights and Toyota cars. Everything you would find in say New York City, is here and prop twice the price.

One of the first things you will notice how expencive things can be, and how cheap, an apple might cost you 20$ US, but a cell phone you can get for 5$, wierd huh? 1000$ US will get you 118,000 Y, give or take.

Tokyo is a very safe city, with crimes against tourist almost nil, the police run a very tight ship there which has made Tokyo one of the safest cities in the world. Just keep an eye out for pickpockets at the airport.

The public transit in Tokyo is HUGE!!!! the maps looks like a plate of pasta, so make sure you grab a map from the ticket booth at the subway stn.

This is a link to a english speaking Japanese magazine might give you some idea of the night life Metropolis
and the english radio stn is 76.1FM

There are just too many thing to see while your there, so there is no point in listing them, justwonder about, and go where your feet take you.

Here is a list of hostels, if your travl'in on a budget Tokyo Hostels

Japan is a G8 country so all the things your used to at home, will pretty much be the same, postal services, transit, internet cafes, goverment services, roads, washrooms, and you will notice how high-tech plays in all of these tings, Japn pretty much has the cutting edge of everything.

Enjoy the food, a pricey as it is, Japan overs such a varity of differnt eats that you will not be able to eat evrything you want. Sushi and a Sapporo ( beer) are my fav that I enjoy here at home one a week

If your from the US, here is the site for your embassy should you need it American Embassy In Tokyo

And the Canadian Embassy Info

I hope this helps some, now keep it mind that I have not been to Japan, but I was very close to going and did a bit of research.

A couple years I recieved a gift from a friend who worked for a major air line, a return ticket to anywhere in the world that airline flew...well i was torn between 2 weeks in Japan, or 1 month and a couple weeks in Europe. I picked Europe, because it was a longer trip and I wanted to make up for my mistakes that I had madde the last time. So I was VERY close to heading to Japan, did alot of readin and even learned some of the language, ( which I forget now)...but in the end I am happy with my choice.
