Default Bali?? Need Info!

Hey guys, so I'm planning a trip to Bali and Thailand for November.. basically for when my time here in Australia is almost at an end... this will be before my trip to Fiji... that's right I'm ALL over the place these days..

Anyways... finding it hard to get the dish on where to stay in Bali.. anyone been there (looking at the Aussies on that one) where is the best place to stay/things to see...

Really just looking for a cheap, relaxed time... hut on the beach perhaps?
Thanks guys!!

ive never done the Bali thing, but its an aussie tradition, theres bound to be loads of info locally too.

i know most people stay in kuta beach, but for huts on the beach im guessing thats more in the smaller costal towns?

I must be one of the only Australians that hasn't been to Bali. So I can't help.

I have heard that you get ripped off if you book ahead.

I've been to Bali about 12 times but not in the last ten years unfortunately. I remember we stayed at Poppies? Ubud is not to be missed. I'm at my parents house on the weekend so I'll look through some photo albums and see what I can remember!

I'm another Aussie that has missed out on Bali. But, my housemate has spent some time there and Thailand, so I'll interrogate him when he gets back on Monday.

Hello MolsonGirl..

hope it's not too late to reply, just join this and been looking huge help on my itenary as well.. ;p

anyway, here comes the local to rescue, i mean, im a local balinese. ask away anything you wish to know about travelling in Bali. although i must admit my ozzie friends might've been a better 'local' themselves compare to me haha.. i even found out some spots from them, and kept asking, 'who's the local now!!!'

anyway.. perfect timing to come to bali or indonesia or any muslim country in november, since the Ramadhan day has over since early october. since Bali is a very famous destination so during those lebaran days it will be very hard to even find accomodation and keep wishing you'll get cheaper price which is mostly impossible.

and same situation applies on the end of year (welllll... who doesnt want to spend the last day of the year in Bali )

ps: about bangkok, i've heard they have an annual every full moon in november's festival but not really sure about this, since i'm still looking for lots of info about thailand as well..

care to exchange info just PM me

I have nothing to contribute except that every time I see this threat I read "Bail" instead of "Bali"

end thread hijacking.

Thanks guys! Right now I'm still looking at financees to see if the trip is even possible, and I have to admit I've kind of copped out and decided if I do go to Bali I'll be staying in the Contiki resort hotel just to ensure safety in the nights, but will definitely be going out and exploring on trips during the day.. if it happens at all.. It's possible I've found a travel partner too!

Bali is extremely safe. I had no concerns about walking around at night, whatsoever. Your likelihood of being the victim of a terrorist attack are so remote...and actually probably increased by being in enclave of tourists than if you were just staying at a normal hotel...!

That said, I wouldn't worry about it. Go to Bali and enjoy yourself! You take a bigger risk each day when you hop in your car and drive on the highway than you do traveling...
