Cambodia/Vietnam info please!
Hi All,
I have a 8 days in SE Asia in Feburary, as a stopover between South Africa and Australia. I am flying into Bangkok, but have been to Thailand before, so I thought I might see Cambodia and Vietnam. Where do you suggest I go for this short amount of time? I am thinking maybe Fly to Phnom Penh, spend a few days there, then bus to Ho Chi Minh, a few days there and then fly back to Bangkok. Any other ideas? I need all the help and suggestions I can get!! Also, how reliable/fast is the Vietnam Visa service in PP- If I am pushed for time should I cough up the extra cash and arrange one in Australia before I leave? Thanks heaps Brett. |
With 8 days I'd say just stay in Cambodia. I spent about a week there between Siem Reap (Angkor Wat) and Phnom Penh where I visited the Killing Fields/Genocide Museum and the old detention camp/high school. If I had had more time, I would've tried to hang out by Tonle Sap and check out life on the lake.
Oh and welcome to tpunk! ;) |
I agree, 8 days isn't enough for more than one country, and only bits of it. I spent 3 weeks in the northern half of Vietnam, and 10 days in Laos (from Vientiane south), and I was "short of time".
I had the vietnamese visa prepared before leaving so can't help you with your other question. Where have you been in Thailand ? And yes, welcome among us ! -_- |

I spent three weeks in Thailand earlier this year- Bangkok, Samui, Phangan, Phuket. I dont have much desire to head north to Chaing Mai etc. |
getting a vietnam visa in camodia is easy! I got mine in sihanoukville in 15 mins! But I really think you should stick to one country . Go to phnom penh, siem reap and then either sihanoukville or kampot.
