Default Thailand to Malaysia- which method is best?

Hi guys. Im in the south (ish) of Thailand and want any advice on the best way to get to Malaysia- I'm either going to do some of the coast or just go straight to KL- it doesn't really matter at this point. Originally I was going to get the train but am not too sure how safe that will be because of the terrorist threat in the south of Thailand?? Would it be better just to fly? I also heard there would some demos on the road the other day too. I really cant be bothered to go back to Bangkok if I do decide to fly- do any other airports in Thailand fly there? Thanks.

There are daily flights from Phuket to KL on Air Asia

http://www.airasia.com/site/en/home.jsp

Prices are quite reasonable and I imagine Phuket should not be too far from you if your in the south. Good luck!

I think it might be safer to fly with the military coup and all other sort of things happening south of Thailand. I vote for LiveFreeorDie AirAsia suggestion.
