so i had my concert tonight and when i got back to london the tube was down and well i don't know the bus stations stuff and i have a credit card just in case something like this happened.... i was all ready to swipe the card and pay out the nose for the cab. me and four other ladies were all looking for a cab and this one cabbie said ya'll get in(in brit accent) and i'll take you where you need... we all got in and asked how much... at first he said 12 i was thinking great i've got cash for that... then one of the girls was like awww come on.... be a mate and help us out.... so he said 4 i was so happy i was giving him a 5 no matter what.... then he went down more for the other four they paid 3 and when he went to drop me off he said it's on the house, have a good time in london... i still gave him 5 for tip because well he was going out of his way and turned down a job to take me home... it made me happy and thought i would post it... because i could still be on a london street trying to get a cab......

Thats awesome. Its good to know theres still some kindness in the world somwhere.

That's awesome.. I had a very similar situation when I got lost in brixton and it had gotten dark and very very creepy.

So was this a black cab or a mini cab?

One night we were walking back to our hostel in Bayswater from a club around Vauxhall... One of my buddies decided he couldn't take it any more and decided to flag down a mini cab. He negotiated a price, got in, and passed out. The driver - a cute dread girl - was sweet and thought he was cute, so we were curious if he'd ever make it back to the hostel, and in what state... Turned out she dropped him straight off, helped drag him in, and only charged £10 after quoting £15. In hindsight, we really should've just gone with him, but we really wanted to walk.

cab stories,sounds like fun...i havent had any :( and you were lucky with that in london,seems like some genuine nice english folk around in london,and thats normally hard to find

One night me and a couple of mates were catching a taxi from the Melbourne to my town around 25 minutes away. We got chatting and found out that the cabbie lived in the same town. Not only did we get a $10 discount, he also gave us his mobile number so we could get a free lift into the city with him on a saturday when he started work around in the evenings.
