hey tpunkers! a few people back home have demanded the travelogue email; so here it is for you guys too. i miss being out of the tpunk gossip loop thats for sure!
Hey guys!
Things are a little crazy right now, as im in marrakech in Morocco...here they have the Djemma el Fna square which is considered one of the biggest spectacles on earth with snake charmers, dancers, fire eaters and the biggest amount of food stalls and everything else you could think of. The red buildings, palaces and mosques also make Marrakech a cool place.
The past month I have seen spain and portugal then here. In San sebastion I soaked up the beach and bars before hitting Pamplona. Here there was the big party of san fermines. The festival was crazy and the streets were pumping til 6am in the morning. After spending all night on the street I ran with the bulls, the biggest adrenaline ever.
Next to Bilbao to see the guggenheim and then Madrid for the best nightlife. The sandstone architecture of Salamance was something special before hitting rural portugal and into the mountains.
In Porto we bounced from port lodge to port lodge trying different ports, and getting reasonably tipsy. From Porto we checked out the Duoro Valley and their vineyards where the port is actually produced.
Further South we hit Coimbra a university town with its beautiful 16th century university. Onto Lisboa the capital and then the beautiful beaches of Lagos before Sevilla in Spain where I experienced the brutality of a bullfight.
Morocco is a real eye opener. The streets are trashed, poverty prevails, pollution is plentyful. Its absoulte chaos. But you cant help but love it. Theres just so much random stuff going on everyday. People selling everything imaginable, so many new things to taste. People are always saying welcome to morocco and asking where your from. Or trying to sell you something or totally rip you off cos your a tourist. Everything is cheap. Tomorrow four of us hit the road in a rental car to smaller villages and to hit the Sahara desert! Apparently the sunsets and sunrises are just surreal, with the dunes and skies changing colours constantly!
hope all is good back home! take care
ev

*sniff* you bring tears to my eyes... Last night I made some of the mint tea we drank constantly while in Morocco, and for a second when I sat out in the garden and lit up I could almost pretend I was there again. Live it up, man... Marrakech is frickin' awesome! If you get a chance, go up into the Atlas Mountains, its so incredibly gorgeous... Glowing green forests, fields of poppies and sunflowers as far as the eye can see.. Sigh... And those gorgeous little golden monkeys live up in the Mountains...

so when i was in Nabul in Tunisia i had the chance to travel hours on a coach to get to the sahara desert and ride a camel, which i did cos i was thinking it would be so cool to bring home some star wars sand! I travelled 11 hours with a small diet coke bottle just waiting for my chance. Anyway 11 hours later (well it felt like that) and a camel ride later i realised i was stuck out in the sahara desert without my bloody coke bottle...i was not impressed ha ha

hey Evan! Awesome to hear your update! Sounds amazing; I wish I were still there and could've gotten down to Marrakesh. How much more traveling do you have left? I emailed Shane to see what kind of adventures he is having after having left Morocco but haven't heard back yet. Take care, keep us updated, and get into as much trouble as possible for me!
Love,
Lauren
