Africa Wilderness with a capital W ! Paradise like landscapes, the Kilimandjaro and the Nile, huts and victorian architecture. Africa is a crossroads of civilizations, the land before time.

Hey there travelpunkers,
I am back from a leave of absence.
I am formerly Dmac, but couldn't remember my password and I don't have the email that I used to when I used this site in the past. I have been studying my ass off for the last two and a half years and finally get to do some traveling agian.
I am going to Ghana Africa on a to treat Patients with Aids and those in need. I will be working half the time and playing half the time I will be in Accra and cape coast, if there is anyone out there that has any good advice on things to not miss out on, things that have to be done, things to not forget, or things to avoid I would love to hear them. Pretty much, anything anyone wants to tell me.
Thanks for everything in advance.

My friend just got back from ghana doing the same thing she was there for about 6 months and stayed a a couple different places. the summer before she did a 3 week clinic there as well. how long are you staying? where are you staying? etc, etc.
from what she said, it's better to travel around with someone who lives there. they can tell you the best stuff. also, if youre staying with a host family while you're there, ask them, they'll tell you what is awsome and what isnt. if you're staying on the clinic site because it's a area that's less safe, stay in larger groups. anyway, i'm very jealous. my friend loved it there! good luck, youre going to have an amazing time!

There's a guy who works here at the airport who's from Ghana, so if you have specific questions, I can ask him. Otherwise, I'll ask him what the highlights are when I see him.

I'm heading to Africa this year, though not for so noble a purpose, man. I'm shooting for southern Africa, as a first choice...
