How to find the best hostels in Venice for your trip
Admit it, you’ve always dreamt of going to Venice. One of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Italy and probably in the world. With its canals, dimly lit streets, gondolas, palaces and the museums it feels like going back in time. Venice is an archipelago of tiny islands in Northern Italy all connected by bridges (400 to be precise). It’s the second most visited city in Italy, second only to Rome, with 20 million tourists every year and, as you can imagine, it can be a very expensive destination to visit. Venice is Venice though and everyone should go a least once in their lives. Therefore, we are here, to help you find the best hostels in Venice, so you can save some money on accommodation and use it to sip some extra Spritz
Disclaimer: in Venice the only means of transportation are boats and your feet. I’m Giulia and I’m from Venice, and I always suggest walking through the city rather than hopping on one of the public boats (which are VERY expensive for tourists: €7,50 per ride, doesn’t matter if you have 1 stop or 10) because, the best way to enjoy the city is to get lost in it.
If you are planning to visit Venice and you don’t know where to stay yet, we’ve got you covered with this list of the best hostels in Venice. You’ll find my top picks in the historical centre and also in Mestre, the closest city on the mainland – which is a 20 mins bus ride away. Depending on your needs, this list of the best hostels in Venice has a hostel for every kind of traveller.

This incredible hostel is located right beside one of the most magnificent churches in Venice (and my favourite of them all): Chiesa dei Gesuiti, 15 minutes walk from St. Mark’s square, a real Rococo masterpiece where green, white and gold are the predominant colours. Inside this church, you’ll also find paintings from famous Venetian artists like Tintoretto!
One of our customer reviews says: “AMAZING HOSTEL! After travelling to various hostels around Italy, this by far was the best hostel we stayed at. The rooms were great and Mattia at the front desk was SUPER helpful! It was definitely worth the extra money. Dimora il Veliero Romantico
Are you coming to Venice with your loved one? Dimora il Veliero Romantico is one of the best hostels in Venice to escape from the daily routine with your partner. This hostel has amazing en-suite private rooms and it’s located in the neighbourhood (Sestiere, if you want to be Venitian ) Santa Croce, hence you’ll be very close to the train station! The hostel is tiny and intimate, and the staff will make sure you have a wonderful stay! The hostel location is pretty strategic: you can visit the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, one of the oldest buildings in the city which interiors are decorated by the renowned artist Tintoretto. My favorite time of the day to see this beauty is when the sun comes down: the building is lit in a way that makes the whole area a little more magical.

Ca’ dei Fuseri
Located in the heart of the historical centre, it’s pretty clear why we decided to put Ca’ dei Fuseri in our list of the best hostels in Venice and this customer review speaks for itself: “Epic location! Quiet hostel, great for couples. Plenty of room in the private room with en-suite, shower was hot, bed was comfortable, air conditioning in room worked well. Breakfast was standard European breakfast but yummy – it was also served to us in the room. We were provided great instructions to get to the place and had no issues on arrival!”. Nearby, you’ll find one of my favourite landmarks: Scala del Bovolo – in my opinion, it has a better view overlooking the city than the St. Mark’s bell tower.

If you get swept up in the Venetian romance, worry not, as the private rooms are equipped with all the comforts you might need!
