so i guess you guys have heard about us brits and our funny food names eg spotted dick, jam roly poly, toad and the hole, sheppards pie but i was just wondering if anyone else in the world had funny food names!
ps if anyone wants recipes for this lot ill be happy to give!

we have pie floaters, spiders (a drink) and fritz

but its hard to know what foods u have that are unusual until u go somewhere where they dont have them

Yesterday I was staying with a family here in Belize and they told me that we were having "jam cakes" for dinner. Yeah, to my suprise there was no jam and no cake! It was more of a fried bread.

How about "Crackl'ns"? - aka fried pig skins from Louisiana and the southern US.

I am sure I can think of some more if I put my mind to it....

heh we got pork craklins too
spotted dick is like a sort of suet pudding with sultanas and raisins and you can have treacle over it or custard

ah well i am now in Sao Paulo brasil. Monday night sadly I am heading home. Well if i can call phoenix home. Then who knows... i am getting married soon too so I am excited about that... yup
