hey all (or where i come from y'all)

i am posting this as a question and an explination, for lack of a better word.

i am right now travelling in eastern europe, started in london and then went to czech rep. and now on to poland. and i am confused about people who love to drink, growing up in a house with alcoholic parents i have seen the destruction alcohol can do, and now on the road i see it every day almost. i run across alot of people who are just travelling as an excuse to get drunk, or generally refered to as pissed or f-up. why?

don't get me wrong, i enjoy a drink now and then, but that is not my main motivation in life, and definitely not my motivation to travel. now i am all for going out to a bar and buying some beer with the locals as a sociological experiment in the human nature of stupidity and all. but, there is a line you must draw, you are in somone elses country and in a small way a representitive of your own. not to mention the fact it gets expensive realy damm fast, no matter where you are.

but, this leaves me in a pickle. i really like to meet women, lots of them and do nasty things with them, as all men do. without the bar in the picture, i find it harder and harder to meet people who are interest in talking, haveing a good time. any suggestion on meeting people without haveing to get sloshed and kill brain cells?
