Because the country your traveling to may not have the same standards to hygine as your country of origin, you might wanna consider keeping a fork and knife with ya, along with some chop sticks if thats the area of the world your in. You can get a knock off swiss army type knife that has a fork, knife and spoon on it for prob 25-35$
Or the cheaper and a way to cut down on the weight, keep some plastic knives and forks with you, re supply them when you can along the way.

The last thing you need is to get some virus from unclean utensils

I always bring my own knife and fork with me. I've used it plenty of times when I'm staying in crummy hostels who don't have enough utensils for everyone and at times when I buy something off a stand like fruit and then I can cut it up. swiss army knives are da bomb. truly one of the most important gadgets to take when travelling.

Whoa! I didnŽt get to this post, yet.

Nice tips, CD and Dio. IŽve never brought my own utinsels before, but looking back, there were many times that I could have used them or a swiss army knife too.

Swiss Army knife...good idea. Looks like I'll have to pick mine up once I'm abroad as that's not an item that I want to travel with these days...

I think as long as you donŽt have it with you on your carry-on luggage, youŽll be fine.

That's what you would think but I know a friend who had his knife taken and it was in his bags that he checked...

get a leatherman instead of a swiss army knife, the blades come sharp as hell and it has more stuff, it might be more expensive but its worth it
