Well I know a bit part of traveling is hitting up the hot spots. And there are always those nights that you vow to never talk about again.
Anyone have any fun stories like this? Or tell us about the favourite place you have found while traveling!

HAHA. Well all of my good bar stories involve very faded memories of the nights. I will think of some though. I know there are much heavier partiers on this site than I am!

well, i do have plenty, not exactly sure of the names of most, but one does stick out in my mind. It was in Riga, Latvia. Staying at friendly, fun franks, which is a shit hostel by the way, but the one high point was that it was just around the corner from a club called pulkevedis something or other. anyway, the name translates to don't write the colonel or something like that. well, it was a great club and everyone i hung out with in latvia liked it. i ended up in riga for a long time. i lost my passport at this club or as a result of this club. you see, i was nearing the end of my 3.5 month trip. i had decided to skip paris and amsterdam at the end in favour of meeting up in latvia with a pal i had met earlier in rome. well, riga was also hosting the world hockey championships. anyway, we go to this club a couple times and for some reason i had my passport in my pocket. anyway, i also had something that i was taking out and putting into the pocket in there all night. i'm not sure if i dropped it in the club or if the irish bird i went home with that night stole it. Really liked the club though, it was like a dingy local type place. was almost picked up by a cute latvian broad my first time in there, but wasn't sure if she was just trying to scam me or something so we bailed. anyway, had to stay in riga longer than planned and go to this club a few more times and extend my trip by a couple weeks. thats my story.

I was at this tiny little kiosk of a bar in the Dominican Republic. I think it was called the Checkpoint. Anyway, the hot-ass bartender let me and my friends throw together some new drink recipes, and then she let me behind the bar to get a picture with her. Good times, good times...

HEY...that reminds me of what happened to me. I was working behind this small little kiosk bar and these three Cali-kids started shouting out random drinks and having me make them. But then one of the hot guys (I think he might have had a thing for me) asked to come behind the bar for a picture. This kinda thing happens all the time, so I let him.
I need to find that guy somehow....he seemed like such a stud. He visits me in my dreams though every now and again..

OMGWTF!? Was that you!?
I must enjoy getting drunk and winding up behind bars...
Previously, in St. Martin, another set of California friends and I were allowed behind the bar and we started handing out tequila shots. Then we hosed everyone down with the little soda-water-gun-thingy.
Ooh, and we got to bartend at a dive bar in New Orleans, too.
Some bartenders never learn, I guess..

Wow!
Watch out for those Irish girls and barmaids in the DR.
I got punched in the head and thrown out of the same bar twice in Cambridge two weeks ago and I am a real nice guy. I need to find new bars to hang out in.

Hmmm well let's see I could tell you the story about this hostel that looks like a castle and has a bar beneath that has a brasilian girl that dresses like a scantily clad angel at the door that asked me if i needed a roommate.... Unfortunately I hadn't planned on getting an apartment in that town and wound up 8 hours away with a place a block away from 4 clubs that stare at each other on a corner and a gringo can walk into anyone and come out with a very happy local...

There was one night in the Shephard's Bush Walkabout in London where me and a few guys from work had gone after a work one friday. We had the necessary amount of drinks and then proceeded to the dance floor. Me and this girl immediately begin scoping each other out, she was the tallest girl there and I was probably the tallest guy. We danced until closing time and then she had to find her friend, but luckily her friend happened to be with one of my buddies, Dan. They were both from the Czech Republic and mine spoke English fairly well, a little better than her friend. The four of us decide to go for a walk and my buddy, who is pretty wasted, is talking with his girl in a hushed tone the whole time. They were both nannies and the family that the friend worked for was out of town that weekend, so we were heading back there. Perfect. We take the bus to the bus transfer station, and everything seemed to be going well and Im looking forward to what the night will bring. We are waiting there when all of a suddent Dan's girl tears away from him and jumps on a bus. The rest of us are shocked, and my girl looks at me apologetically and jumps on after her and the bus speeds away before me and Dan can react. We stand there in disbelief for a few seconds and then he says, "sorry dude, that was probably my fault. I was saying some perverted shit to her but I didnt think she could understand me." So, we each wait about an hour for our respective busses and go home.
On a positive note, I got her phone number and saw her many more times after that night.

My bar stories abroad are very boring. I think the craziest I have ever been is when I sat down at an outdoor pub in Rome with a married man from Oslo and we had maybe 10 Guinnesses. We had never met before, but we spent four hours talking about Italian politics, his wife, rich people, easy women, the Pope, Russians, Canadians, American class warfare, the IRA, and television documentaries. The entire night he was pointing out to me which women I should go and hit on. I decided on one beautiful woman and we happened to discover that we grew up 20 minutes from each other. Small world. I decided she was too close to home.
