I've never seen one Tecia but I've heard about a few. Sounds like you want to do kinda of a coffee table book? I don't know, you mentioned the BA in Photography so I concluded that. Anywho the books I have heard of only feature the big events and not all the neat little ones.

Yes I would love to do a book with some bid events and some little ones that people shoud know about but no one does. Also I would want it to be a little educational like where and when some little interesting little facts about how, when, and why these events got started. And of course if backpackers what to go there some helpful hints on where to stay and where to stay away from

yeah definatly a great Idea... if the pictures were real good than you could sell the crap out of it especially to all the people who always wanted to travel but never did. shoot I might even buy one.... oh and I 've never seen anything like that.

Sounds awesome, we found colourful festivals in every little town in Northern Japan during the summer, and no one else had ever heard of them. But they're awesome subjects for photography (as my husband discovered when he saw the bills for developing!) and are great ways to meet local people and see places that are way off the beaten path. Let me know if you want a collaborator for things like the Shimoda Salmon Festival and the Gonohe summer festival. They're probably not too high on most people's lists!
I still remember a Chinese artist that I met at a street festival in Liechtenstein 14 years ago, we had a long, bizarre conversation and two of his zen drawings of the sea are my best souvenirs of a small, landlocked European country. Figures, huh? Thanks for starting this string and letting me trip down memory lane!
Good luck with your project.
