Anybody use ProTools?

What's a good simple program to make beats, mix in some samples or modify existing songs, to rap over?

Thanks for the info, paulo!

Yeah, there are some pros here! If we all got together, we could put together a serious club ...really! Or a party at the very least!

Here's a tune that I like. You can hear it in the new Robert Rodriguez trailer-"Once Upon A Time In Mexico" (right click and "save as"). hope you got a fast connection, its 8.5mb's.

Hey T-Punk, I like the track.

Yeah, we should all get together and bust out a Travel Junkies mad melody mix-a-thon. Voyd, Pro-Tools definitely lives up to its name. However, it is also mega-bucks once you get all the add-ins and interfaces. Most of the sequencers/synths/recorders/ software is pretty similar. For some reason, I am really happy with Sonic Foundry products. Easy to use, intuitive, and versatile. I'll see if I rum across something that may be better suited to rappin'.

Anyways, I gotta go get my sleep on.

So party on,
from the dusk till the dawn
without me
'cause you see
that's the way it has to be
I gots to go
I need deep sleep
to regenerate my mad crazy flow.

piece out homies

Hey TUI, are you from New Zealand or have you just travelled here?

The Powerstatioin is not really used for dance these days, normally rock.

As for me I'm into the house/tech house/prog house scene, but to be honest I hate how people group dance music into genera, and then fight over what is better, I prefer to listen to all types and keep and open mind. Each to their own.

yeah powerstation is not considered a "dance club" but Ive seen some big names there and if ya time it right it can be a long night to remember.

I also saw some great shows there outside of the dance scene. In 2001 I saw MXPX there and they were rockin.

No I dont live there anymore but I was there for six months at one time and Ive been in and out of the country 6 times.

TRANCE!!!!!!!!!
Ok, basicly all I have to say is book a flight for Germany in the summer and hoit the worlds biggest club. LOVE PARADE!!!!! Man thats hoppin, Anyways germany also has the coolest clubs I have been to a few and I have noticed they were all like superclubs, minimum 3 diffrent rooms, all spinning diffrent types of tunes, I also went to this one club in Dresden it was amazing (cant remeber the name I'll post it when i do) ther were about 5 diffrent rooms that were all closed off from one another and long hallways between each one you meet so many people, all the rooms had a theme like desert, basment, normal club room etc... and when you were tired you head out to the patio and chill with people and look over an amazing view of the city. 2 for 1 drink night too booya!!!!! Also the dresdan university club is sweet, soooo mny chicks got hit on so much you just have to be outgoing and look like your having fun and anyone can get some. Hope that helps
Noobs
ps. Ibiza is rockin too

Music production tools I use: MIDI keyboard, Reason. Fender guitar/amp, Peavey and AudioTechnica mics plugged in through a Behringer mixer, routed into a G4 with an M-Audio "Audiophile 24/96" soundcard. Track editing/dubs in BIAS Peak. I have Logic Audio, but have been too scared to take on the learning curve.

DJ gear: 2 Technics SL1200MK3 decks, old-school Denon CD decks, craptacular Gemini 19" mixer

Some Results: http://tavallai.com/music_sub1.html
(Ignore the radio station link, as I took the stream down..)

Fav clubs 'round the world:
San Francisco - Spundae, Ruby Skye, Club 6, 26Mix, Qool
Los Angeles - ok, i hate the LA scene, but I love the goth clubs there
London - The Cross (@ King's Cross), School Disco (cheesy!!!), Madame Butterfly's (scary!!!), Cargo
Dublin - Down Under (cheesy-ass Aussie club, but they don't skimp on the mixed drinks!), various student clubs where the DJs can't mix for crap but the atmosphere is fun fun fun
Paris - The Queen, Wax (hard to find - ask a local in Bastille)

Next month, I'll be hitting up Paradiso in Amsterdam for sure, but only because I know Kings of Convenience are playing on 7/11.
