Good morning,

Myself and my friend Clare have booked RTW tickets from london, we will arrive in Venezuela 7th December (caracas). As this is near xmas, we are unsure whether to stay here (although we cant find any accomodation on line) or move to another part of South America which u feel may more fun/safer etc.

Also we have done everything at a bit short notice, so I am little concerned. Do you have any tips ? Can i live on a lonely plaet book for each country i go to ?

Thank u all in advance

I like to kind of fly by the seat of my pants, so I would say just find something when you get there.. It makes life so much more interesting. Do either of you speak any spanish? Even a little will help you out.. People really love it when you stumble and stutter through their language...

Never having been to Venezuela, mind you, I would plan on heading out of the capital after a couple days in Caracas. My guess is you'll enjoy the pace and friendliness of the smaller towns, as opposed to the frenetic big city...

Venezuela is quite an interesting place to visit. Lately I'm so interested in traveling around South America. If you need on line accomodations check those sites:
http://www.hostels.com/en/availability.php...stelNumber.4843
http://www.venezuelatuya.com/andes/por.htm

Although if you feel like moving to another place in South America, definately Brazil is the place to go!!! Just look at the map... We have a world of possibilities here! Have fun!!!

Ok, I don't wanna sound too forceful here but I definitely agree with BGirl, if you're going to South America, you MUST go to Brazil, at least the beaches in the northern part, like Fortaleza, NAtal, if I'm not mistaken BGirl is from that area and she could have some awesome hints for you, a good itinerary would be start off in Venezuela, then move down to the Brazilian beaches, then head down to Machu Picchu in Peru (incredible place) and then down to Argentina (I'd spend about a day or two there), those are only suggestions and I don't know what your plans are but I thought this might help.

Those are good suggestions Jorgino! The only problem about traveling to many countries in south America is that we don't have a good structure to travel like in Europe, for example. Trains/buses sucks. And you would spend a LOOONG time inside them cause the highways are awful (Jake can tell you better, he almost lived in a bus!) So the plane is the good option but they are expensive. If you can make it, great! But if you can't I recommend to choose one place and explore all the possibilities there. But to leave Venezuela and come to Brazil won't hurt anybody...right?
