Default Concentration Camps in/near Germany

My mom's coming to visit me in Germany in July, and she'd like to see a concentration camp. I really don't need to experience this again, I've been to the Dachau concentration camp, near Munich, and its gotta be one of the most depressing places in the world. But yeah, I understand, if you haven't seen one, maybe its something you should experience. Anyways . . . besides Dochau, are there any other camps in Germany that aren't just a memorial now? I know most of them were destroyed after the war. Dochau's a little out of the way, so I was hoping for something closer the Mainz/Frankfurt area.

Wouldn't say its near Germany but Auschwitz is not too far away also hear there I think there are still some ghettos for display.

The closest one to Frankfurt would be Buchenwald (konzentrationslager - concentraction camp, not extermination camp) near Weimar.

You have to go to Poland if you want to see a extermination camp (vernichtungslager)

They are horrible to see. She know's it'd be a sad and dreary experience, but . . . yeah, wants to see one for historical impact. Maybe its good to see just how horrible humans can be, makes you look at life a bit differently. Or actually I really have no idea how to say it, but I know I wanted to see one too. But one was enough. But, due to time restrictions, and how out of the way they are, I convinced her that we had better things to do and see. Score.

Thanks for your input though guys, I appreciate it, someone else on here will as well. Maybe I'll have to give in and go with my mom to one of these hellholes in a few years from now.
