Hi everyone- girlfriend and I are looking for a trip. She's done a lot of month long canoe trips, camping, etc.. but I really haven't. We're looking for 14 day trip, and some beginner/moderate backpacking/hiking. I think it'd be awesome if we could find some towns to go between, maybe stay at hostels... Sorry I don't have a lot of info! Something pretty, good food, a bit exotic of a place would be cool. We haven't done a lot of international travel, so preferably something that wouldn't be really difficult to plan...

Where are you located? There are some great backpacking trips in the US, especially in the southwest. I don't know much about the hostel situation here though. I would recommend some backpacking time in Central America! Countries are close, so you could cover a lot of ground and see some great places.

14 days is good for no more than 2 "bigger" cities if you want to get to know their essence just below the normal tourist level, in my opinion.

Maybe you can knock out a London/Paris combo for ease and an initial introductory to international travel.

Well, since I'm planning my own trip there, why not suggest it? How about Peru? You could hike the Inca Trail (see pinknic's "September Adventure" for lots more details on that. There's tons to do in two weeks. You could hit up Lake Titicaca, do jungle/Amazon stuff, fly over the Nazca Lines. Seriously way more than 2 weeks worth, and much of it outdoorsy stuff your girlfriend would probably enjoy.

Go to Spirit Airlines website and see how cheap you can get tickets for, too...
