I was wondering.... Philippians?

Ok, here is the deal!
I'm currently in the military, I have traveled a lot before joining and I hate the fact that I am so tied down now that I have made the choice to do this. I don't regret it, but I do hate a lot of the BS that I have to bit my lip and just deal with..

I have recently decided that after my contract is up in about 5 more years that I am going to take off and just go and here is where I want to ask a few questions... I am planning to save about $40,000 - $50,000 dollars. In April of 2012 I planned to leave the US behind and fly direct to London, spend a year traveling localy from there fully across the whole content and eventualy end up in Japan.

I plan to do this wit spending ONLY $10,000. I'll be spending most of my time staying out side under the stars and eating very healthy but minimaly. I know that I can do this part... and it will be one of the greatest years of my life. THE MAIN REASON FOR THIS POST IS... I plan to to go to the Philippians and resume my life from that point living there. I was wondering if anyone knew about there currency exchange??? I know about the culture and the people and I know that I would be able to relax the work on my music there but, I was wondering if $30,000-$40,000 would be enough for me to live my life out over in the Philippians. Any help or thoughts about this will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you for your time,
Ckid

Thanks for serving your country!

I used to dream like you are doing now. But life got in the way. I was hoping I would be thrown out of the seminary and I never did. Long story. The problem with waiting that long is so many things are going to happen along the way. You could fall in love and have a kid, for example.

It is probably a good idea to save money. It is always a good idea. However, you do get free time. You can go to different places when you are on vacation or liberty. Unless you have a demanding mother who wants you home to see her, you are free to do what you want. Take some short trips. Also, try to get located in an ideal location like Germany. Best of luck.

Hey I'm current military too, and I def think that traveling when you get out is a great idea. I am currently playing with the idea also. I separate in August to take an ROTC scholarship but when it gets time to go to grad school I am thinking of deferring my acceptance a year to travel.

And being in for awhile is a good way to save money, since technically they pay for food and all that stuff. And if you're in a deployable unit, although deployments blow, it's a great way to save some money, if you don't shop on amazon.com every day like me. :)

Anyway good luck... where you stationed out of?
