Im really having trouble deciding on a hostel in both cities. Paris seems to be giving me the biggest problem, my more desired choices only have one of the two days available that I need...Im only in Paris for two nights and I cant decide on wether to tough it out in a hostel with not the best reviews, such as Aloha, or friends, or just spending the extra cash for a hotel since it is only two nights???? I need some opinions....and Prague is just up in the air, cant make a solid decision!!! Two and a half weeks tilll i leave

Hey,
This is my first trip to Europe but i heard the Montmartre area in Paris is pretty cool. Neighborhood feel with a light trip into the main city. I booked at Le Montclair Montmartre for our stay in July. I also heard Caulaincourt is pretty decent also. Hope this helps

i stayed at the czech inn in prague... sooo good. it's really new and very modern. the rooms are all proper beds, no bunks, with amazing pillows! the bar is really good and it's a cafe during the day.

You are going to sooooo love your decision. My wife and I stayed in that area last summer. Its the artist area, and you will see sooo many artists offering there services to you. You also have to check out the Sacre Cour while you are there in the area. The view from the stairs in front are some of the best in Paris. Do some research on the Catacombs if you are in Paris for a few days, totally worth visiting.

I'm staying at Sir Toby's in a few weeks. I believe the same people own it that own the Czech Inn. I'm pretty psyched.

I have read a lot of good things about The Boathouse in Prague, I think that is where I am going to try for. I haven't made my decision yet on Paris either. That is my first stop. www.bugeurope.com has some reviews on Paris hostels. Let's Go reccomends Young & Happy, Woodstock, Calincourt, & the Aloha.

If you haven't solved your hostel dilemma yet, and opt for a cheap hotel, might I suggest the Etap hotel chain. There are several along the metro lines in Paris, mostly the cheaper ones are on the outskirts, but still accessible. www.etaphotel.com

Prices around Paris are usually in the 40 - 50 Euro range, which might be too pricey, but again, if it's only for a couple of days, your budget may stretch that far.

coulaincourt is okay but not that social, at least when i was there, but the dorms were clean, and they were doing some remodelling during the day

ive heard good things about clown and bard in prague but i havent been there myself yet

it really dpends what sort of hostel you want. Woodstock in paris is very social, i loved it but it is also kind of cramped and dirty and expensive. but i think all hostels in paris are.
the clown and bard is also social. it has a good breakfast. but lots and lots of stairs to the big dorm room. it isn't so close to the centre but you can walk if you want to. the kitchen is tiny and no one really uses it.
