This place was AWESOME. For 13 euros a night you had a kitchen and couple showers attatched to each dorm style room (of like 6), there was a huge CLEAN common room with a piano, you could take out the guitars for free, laundry, relatively cheap internet (although it could be a pain in the ass sometimes), cheap drinks & good pub atomosphere...everything was SO clean. It was like 2 blocks away from the train station, not the main one but there was easy access between the two...This place was great. When I was there there were so many musicians staying there so we had a jam every night, w/ all the instruments they provided. Great place. They actually have 2 within like 2 blocks from each other. I stayed in the not so main one, but we partied at the main one after our common room closed down at 11.

oh...and as a sidenote, if you're in vienna and you tend to eat a lot, I reccommend Centipede. It provides the largest meals I've ever seen...ever for like 5 euros. It was awesome. I eat alot but I'm relatively slow and I think I was there for like an hour and a half just trying to finish this meal (because I dont like to let food go to waste).

How far is this from downtown? Is it a pain in the ass to get there from the hotel?

There is a place across from the Wombat City Hostel called Mozart Strube or something like that which serves up Wienerschnitzel and fries for 5 euros between 1800 and 0200 if memory serves.

sorry asianrick! never saw this! I cant remember where exactly "downtown" is. When I go to my home home from school I'll have to dig up my old maps. I know I walked to the main sites because I wanted to see the stores and stuff. I think it probably took me about an hour and a half, but I could have just as easily taken the bus/train as the station was so close. Well, the main sites minus the castle. I took the bus to the castle. If memory serves it was a lot farther so I needed to bus it.
