never did find that hostel...ended up in a place called casa gerotto....had a 1230 curfew...we ended up running through the random tiny roads and walkways through venice drunk trying to find our way back and we made it by 1229....almost ended up sleepin on the bench outside the hostel...21 euro a night...but i missed out at some fun bars with some awesome people because of that stupid curfew...if u wanna party..dont go here...but it was nice and cute and very clean and a nice location...i dont know if i would rate it good or bad...u take in all of that and decide for yourself

Bwahaha - I can relate. We were doing the same thing to catch the last late bus back to our "campsite" area like 30 min outside of town. Talk about a labyrinth! I swear all those streets start looking the same and you start wondering if you've been making circles after a while? A"maz"ingly though, we somehow just barely made it.

Hence, always good to bring a small compass with ya...

I stayed at the Hotel Antico Capon (er, I think that's the name) & it is in what I was told is the COOL part of Venice (hell, man, it's all cool if ya ask me!), called Campo Santa Margherita in Drosoduro. It's more of a pensione, I guess, but the price was OK (a little expensive for really no major cleaning & the location was superb. ) I really just fell in love with the area--lots of cute bars & cafes. Be sure to check out "Orange" if you go there. ALSO--laundromat not too far away. I think it's one of 2 in the whole city!
Good luck! Have fun! Venice is amazing!!!!!

Camping Fusina is the way to go if your lookin' for a good time in Venice. Actually have to take a short ferry ride to get to Venice, but the campground has an awesome bar so you may never make it into Venice...well, at least not until late in the day anyway Anyway the bar was the best I'd ever been to and made my trip a blast...or was it the barmen there....
