Cinque Terre has no real hostels that I could see so most of the accomodation is pensions, which are a pain for single travellers because you have no one readily avalible to share a room with and to get a room to yourself is too expensive. There is a place in Monterosso, the main town in Cinque Terre that rents little tiny single rooms for 25 Euro. I went to the Souvenir hotel asking about a room and the lady said no room, but then seemed to change her mind and told me to follow her. We walked across town and she showed me the "camera" rooms. There are like 3 modern style huts in this little courtyard, which are mabye 5 ft by 7ft. A bed, a sink and a chair and table - all you need. There is a shared bathroom among the rooms with a shower. This worked out perfectly for me the second day I was there, but the funny thing was that there was no one else in the other rooms. When she showed me the rooms at 10 am obviously no one had been there the previous night either. This in a town chock full of backpackers desperate for accomodation. They really should advertise more.

Hello,
Can you please tell me a landmark that's near this place? I will be travelling to the area sometime between 8/30/05 to 9/7/05 for a couple of days but I haven't made any reservations yet.
Thanks!

If you want to simply show up, just ask the for a map of hotels at the tourist info at the train station. The Souvenir hotel is on the map, at the end of a street starting with an O...

This post is a little old, but maybe it will help someone out in the future for CT. I stayed at Ostello Cinqe Terre, which is in the village of Manarola. I think it was about $18 a night for a bed in a 6 bed dorm room. The atmosphere was just okay, but it didnt matter b/c CT is so beautiful. There is a restaurant in the hostel but I would recommend going out in the village for food, or going to a market.

Oh Cinque Terre... so beautiful.
